Synergy strand bamboo is high-traffic flooring that is twice as hard as red oak. And now it is available in wide planks with the Välinge-patented, glueless, self-locking system that allows the floating floor to be installed with underlayment on, above or below grade. The wider, longer, square-edged planks install quickly and complement a variety of décor styles from traditional to contemporary in settings from artists' lofts to large meeting rooms to three-bedroom ramblers. New patents-pending construction employs a cross-ply bamboo fiber core to ensure that the flooring remains flat and the locking system profile strong and stable. A hidden benefit: the recommended underlayment also creates an acoustical sound barrier, making Synergy ideal for offices or high-rise condominiums, as well as homes.
Synergy strand bamboo wide-plank floating floor is manufactured under a patented process that fuses bamboo fibers with an environmentally safe adhesive under extreme pressure to form homogenous, high-density panels that are cut and milled into the wear layer. As a result, Synergy is 100 percent harder than red oak and 18 percent harder than Santos mahogany—perfect for high-traffic areas in both residential and commercial settings.
Synergy floating floor is available in four distinctive blends of bamboo strands—Wheat (natural), Chestnut (caramelized), Java (light and dark caramelized strands) and new Brindle, a beautiful blend of natural and caramelized strands. The 5-coat German finish includes a wear layer of abrasion-resistant aluminum oxide, plus two scratch-resistant, polyurethane topcoats that protect the bamboo fiber's natural strength and beauty. Its finish is water-based and solvent-free, and its adhesives emit substantially less formaldehyde than is present in ambient air.

Synergy solid-strip flooring qualifies because its manufacturing adhesive is phenol-formaldehyde based. However, Synergy floating floor is manufactured with a wear layer of strand bamboo mounted on a 100% bamboo fiber core that contains a urea-formaldehyde adhesive which disqualifies Synergy floating floor from receiving this credit.
Environmental impact
Teragren's current proprietary manufacturing adhesive emits less formaldehyde than allowed by U.S. OSHA, European E0, CARB Phase 1 & 2, and Japanese JIS/JAS (F****) emissions standards
