As a leading partner of the Healthy Home Initiative, and a strong supporter of green building through LEED, Passive House and other sustainable, low impact building models, we at Teragren are committed to working through third party agencies to evaluate and certify the ecological and human health impacts of our products. Programs such as the Forest Stewardship Council and USDA BioPreferred serve as a trusted resource to specifiers and homeowners and help to guarantee the health and longevity of our natural resources. SCS Indoor Advantage Gold and Floorscore certifications currently stand as the most stringent indoor air quality certifications in the world, testing all products for 78 different volatile organic compounds. We are proud to be able to offer these industry gold standard certifications on our products, and have done so continually since 2008.
Does Teragren offer FSC-certified bamboo products?
Yes. Teragren's FSC-Pure products are available immediately through special order, and include popular products featured within the company's lines of bamboo flooring, countertops, panels and veneer.
The FSC-Pure designation means that certified products have been harvested in a FSC-certified forest, are manufactured with 100 percent FSC-certified material and are distributed and sold through an FSC Chain of Custody (COC)-certified distribution channel. (Certificate #SCS-COC-002912)
Does FSC-Pure certified bamboo qualify for LEED MR Credit 7?
Yes. Teragren's FSC-Pure bamboo products contribute to MR Credit 7: Certified Wood.
What is the FSC?
The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, non-profit organization of individuals who promote the responsible management of forests around the globe. They are non-governmental, and their list of requirements is decided by group consensus. They were established in 1993 to address exploitation and mismanagement of forests, and to emphasize their social and ecological value. Certification ensures that companies that work in forested areas share and maintain FSC's core values.

Teragren's products ensure the highest indoor air quality for you and your family
The FloorScore® program, in conjunction with Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), rigorously tests and certifies flooring products for compliance with indoor air quality emission requirements adopted in California (the California Section 01350 program, which dictates the maximum emission concentrations for 78 different Volatile Organic Compounds). Certified products qualify for use in high performance schools and offices and are recognized as contributing to good indoor air quality in order to protect human health.
Products bearing the FloorScore® label also meet the indoor air emissions criteria of LEED® Green Building Rating Systems, qualifying them to earn LEED credit IEQ 4.3: Low-Emitting Materials—Flooring Systems.
What is the SCS?
Scientific Certification Systems is the global leader in independent certification of environmental and sustainability claims, including green building claims. Over two decades they have become internationally recognized for delivering superior world-class assessment and certification services.
How can I tell if Teragren is SCS Certified?
Consumers should visit SCS's website where they may input Teragren's Registration Number IAQ-01879.
What does SCS's Indoor Advantage™ Gold Certification represent?
By setting limits on indoor air emissions, this certification guarantees that certified products contribute to a healthy and safe indoor environment. Technically speaking, the SCS Indoor Advantage Gold™ Certification ensures that all certified products are tested to the California Special Environmental Requirements Specification 01350 standard which mandates that individual VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) do not exceed one-half of the defined CREL (Chronic Reference Exposure Levels) threshold as established by the State of California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment. Teragren's products also conform to the standards of the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS), a national movement to improve the quality of learning through exemplary design, construction, and operation of schools.
What Teragren products have earned the SCS Indoor Advantage™ Gold Certification?
The SCS IAG certification applies to all Teragren's bamboo panels and many of it's veneer products.
Why is Teragren's Indoor Advantage™ Gold Certification important?
Teragren IAG Certified Urea-Formaldehyde free panels and veneer contribute to LEED IEQ Credit 4.4: Low-Emitting Materials—Composite Wood and Agrifiber Products. Effective April 27, 2009 New Construction, Commercial Interiors, Core & Shell, and Schools may be eligible for 1 credit under IEQ 4.4. Note: Schools may be eligible to receive a credit for Teragren's IAG certified panels and veneer manufactured with Urea Formaldehyde adhesive.
Our complete line of fine bamboo flooring, panels, veneer and worktops has earned the USDA Certified Biobased Product Label. The BioPreferred Label verifies that the products' amount of renewable biobased ingredients meets or exceeds prescribed USDA levels. Biobased products are goods composed in whole or in significant part of agricultural, forestry, or marine materials. The purpose of the USDA BioPreferred® program is to promote the increased purchase and use of biobased products. The increased purchase of biobased products is expected to reduce petroleum consumption, increase the use of renewable resources, better manage the carbon cycle, and may contribute to reducing adverse environmental and health impacts. The BioPreferred label will start to appear on certified Teragren products by early 2013. The BioPreferred Program includes a preferred procurement program for Federal agencies and their contractors, who are required to give preferential consideration to USDA biobased designated product categories when making purchases. As a part of this process of designating product categories for the Federal procurement preference, USDA establishes the minimum biobased content for the category. Information on the technical, health, and environmental characteristics of these products are also considered. All biobased amount claims are verified by independent labs and monitored by the USDA. Consumers may feel secure in the accuracy of the biobased amount and be empowered in making better informed purchasing decisions.
